Internships & Practicums

If you are interested in completing an internship or practicum for a University of Utah's Educational Leadership & Policy graduate program, please complete the Internship Application form, and submit it along with Form A and Form B provided by your advisor to deanofstudents@sa.utah.edu

If you are interested in completing an internship or practicum experience for any other program,  send an email to deanofstudents@sa.utah.edu describing the position you would like to pursue (see below), the length of time you wish to engage with our office, and describe your goals and expectations for the experience will be. 

About Our Office

The Office of the Dean of Students is broken into three functional units: Behavioral Intervention & Education, Student Conduct & Community Standards, and Student Athlete Advocacy.

Behavioral Intervention
 & Education

We, with assistance from the Behavioral Intervention Team, gather information from faculty, staff, and students to assess the potential risk level of behavior, and to work towards the common goal of campus safety.

We provide campus and community resources to assist students in being successful in a supportive way.




Student Conduct & Community Standards

The Student Code of Rights & Responsibilities outlines community standards for students to facilitate a just and civil campus.

We manage reporting, investigation, and adjudication of violations to keep students accountable for their decisions and actions through due process.

We also compile information to assist in maintaining compliance and do educational outreach to keep the community informed.

Student Athlete
 Advocacy

This role is a resource for student athletes to report issues of misconduct or maltreatment they may experience within their participation in an athletic program.

This role works independently from Athletics and works with existing University processes to find appropriate resolutions.

 

 

 

Available Positions

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate case management for various student emergencies including financial concerns, hospitalizations and general mental health issues.
  2. Provide comprehensive referral services to students for on campus and community services
  3. Assist in the support of student engaging in CARE/BIT and Community Standards processes
  4. Assist with department and student outreach and special projects to enhance partnerships within the University
  5. Work 1:1 with students through walk-in appointments and incoming calls
  6. Manage and update case records and documentation
  1. Facilitate case management for students engaging in the student conduct process
  2. Assist with the administration of a complex student code discipline process to resolve alleged policy violations
  3. Assist with department and student outreach and special projects to enhance partnerships within the University
  4. Work 1:1 with students through walk-in appointments and incoming calls
  5. Manage and update case records and documentation
  1. Facilitate in the support of ODOS special projects
  2. Assist with department and student outreach to enhance partnerships within the University
  3. Assist Dean with administration of complex student issues (Conduct, CARE/BIT, Title IX, Student Grievances)
  4. Support Dean in the management of supervisory departments
